Fine Dining.

If you know me you know I’m a fine dining snob. Discover the city’s culinary landscape through this selection of high-end establishments. From sophisticated atmospheres to innovative culinary fusions, each restaurant is a gastronomic journey that will leave you with a taste of my home’s culinary prowess.

Pujol.

For those of you looking to tick a box on your culinary bucket list while in Mexico City, Pujol is an absolute must-visit. Renowned as one of the city's most famous fine dining establishments, it's not only a jewel in the crown of Polanco but a favorite of mamma Mendoza’s. Mention you're visiting Mexico City, and "Pujol" is likely the recommendation you'll hear echoed back.

Whether you opt for the ten-course taco omakase at the bar or the tasting menu in the dining room, the experience is unforgettable, highlighted by a mole that has been perfecting since 2013.

Quintonil.

If Pujol is New York, Quintonil is Chicago. Second City but might just edge out as the better experience for some. Nestled in Polanco, just like Pujol, Quintonil focuses on local flavors and stunning dishes. It was started by a chef who once worked at Pujol; they even share a signature dish – the famous mole that's been perfected over the years.

Quintonil's menu is a celebration of Mexican cuisine. If dinner reservations are hard to come by, aim for lunch; it's among the best you can get in Mexico City, or anywhere really.

Rosseta.

Rosetta is a gem tucked away in a townhouse, where Italian cuisine meets Mexican flair. Lunchtime here is magical, with sunlight streaming through, but for those seeking romance, dinner at Rosetta promises an unforgettable evening.

Our visit was a culinary journey thanks to our server. He took the time to explain each dish's ingredients and even shared the Rosetta cookbook, offering us a glimpse into the chef's vision. Dining at Rosetta is not just a meal; it's an exploration of unique and exquisite flavors.

Comal Oculto.

Comal Oculto has quickly captured my heart. Blending the allure of a cozy cafe with just the right touch of fine dining. Nestled near iconic art museums in the Chapultepec neighborhood, this quaint spot might surprise you with its single communal table set out on the street, creating an intimate dining experience.

Whether you're starting your day with breakfast or stopping by for lunch, don't miss pairing your meal with their rich hot chocolate or aromatic cafe de olla (my dad’s favorite). From the flauta ahogada with mole to the bean tlacoyo with avocado leaf, every choice is a favorite waiting to be discovered.

Niv Bar.

For the wine aficionados among us (looking at you, Kris), Niv Bar shines brightly in Mexico City's wine scene. Niv presents an intimate atmosphere that's as lively as its wine list. Here, you'll find a thoughtful selection of small-batch wines from France to Mexico, featuring everything from new world sparkling to classic Burgundies.

Don't skip the mamey creme brulee to end on a sweet note. With its candle-lit ambiance, vinyl tunes, and cozy backroom for cocktails and late-night bites, Niv has quickly become a beloved social hub in Condesa.

Special Mention: Lago Algo.

While I've yet to visit Lago Algo myself, it's high on my list for its breathtaking views alone—perfect for those must-have Insta pics. Nestled in Bosque de Chapultepec, this spot is a stunning blend of contemporary art gallery and restaurant, housed within an iconic piece of Mexico's Brutalist architecture from the late '60s.

Its windows offer serene views of Chapultepec’s lake, making it an ideal brunch destination after a leisurely stroll through the park. The art exhibits are seasonal and ingeniously utilize the unique space, adding an engaging backdrop to your meal.
